What Is Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is a wireless technology for electronic devices to communicate with each other. The Bluetooth mobile phone communicates with the handsfree Bluetooth device in the vehicle. In 2006, more than 50% of all new mobile phones in the U.S. will be Bluetooth enabled through all major carriers including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and others.
Users must have a cell phone that supports the Bluetooth "hands-free profile". It is the user's responsibility to ensure that his or her phone is compatible with this system.
Your Bluetooth profiled cell phone must be paired or electronically matched to the bluetooth unit. Then simply place your cell phone anywhere in the passenger compartment of your vehicle. Your Bluetooth handsfree profiled cell phone will automatically connect or transmit to the unit every time it is on, charged, or within range (30ft).
5 states (California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Washington), the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands have enacted jurisdiction-wide cell phone laws prohibiting driving while talking on handheld cell phones. Many other states ban cell phone use in specific situations.
