2015 Kia Sorento interior teased

Kia has already shown teaser sketches of the new-generation Sorento, which will have a lower roofline, higher beltline, more rounded rear haunches and deeply sculpted body surfaces, according to the brand. The new headlights connect to the grille and feature a subtle kink along their upper edges, while the new trapezoidal tail-lights will have a distinctive LED signature.

The interior of the 2015 Kia Sorento has been teased ahead of the new-generation SUV’s reveal in South Korea in late August, before taking the stage at the 2014 Paris motor show in early October. According to Kia, the interior of the all-new, third-generation 2015 Kia Sorento “will raise the bar for luxury in its segment”, with a new wraparound dashboard fascia, upright touchscreen media system and “high quality soft touch materials”.

Kia claims the interior of the car – which was designed in-house by the company’s European arm – was inspired by Swiss watches, with contours and stitched leather the obvious outcomes. The newly shaped dashboard brings larger vents for the air-conditioning system, while the controls appear to have been simplified, sitting below the media system.

A new, low-profile gear selector sits alongside and behind two covered storage sections, while the centre armrest appears to be larger than that seen on the current Sorento.

The new Sorento will be larger than the current 4.7-metre-long seven-seat SUV, and will have a longer wheelbase that will create more second- and third-row space to help it better compete with rivals such as the Toyota Kluger and Nissan Pathfinder.

It is tipped to be offered with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine and a 3.3-litre V6 petrol shared with the new Carnival people-mover, while a 2.4-litre direct-injection four-cylinder may also feature in the line-up. Front- and all-wheel-drive versions are expected, with eight-speed automatic gearboxes likely to be standard fit items.

CarAdvice’s spy photographers caught the new model testing in Europe recently, and it’s clear the Sorento will be swoopier and more curvaceous than the model it replaces.

The all-new Kia Sorento is expected to go on sale in the first few months of 2015 in Australia. Stay tuned for more news on the 2015 Kia Sorento as it comes to hand.
